The Power of "Learning by Teaching": How Sharing Knowledge Enhances My Understanding

We've all experienced that moment when we try to explain a concept we thought we knew well, only to stumble and fumble through our words, realizing there were gaps in our understanding. This scenario is common, and it can be both humbling and enlightening, reminding us that learning is a continuous journey.

There's something uniquely humbling about attempting to explain a concept you believed you knew well. When you verbalize your knowledge, it quickly reveals uncertainties or areas where your understanding is incomplete. When we're learning on our own, it's easy to overlook these gaps. However, when you take on the role of a teacher, you're confronted by learners who ask questions. Interestingly, these questions tend to focus on the "difficult areas" where you might also have gaps in your understanding, rather than the "easy areas" you comprehend. This is a part of human nature.

This is where the concept of "learning by teaching" comes in handy. Teaching requires you to organize your thoughts and present them in a clear, logical manner. This process encourages you to review and rethink the material, leading to a deeper understanding.

When you attempt to teach a topic, you quickly realize what you don't know. This awareness can guide your further learning efforts and ensure a more comprehensive grasp of the subject.
