CodeCycle: Rediscovering the Skill of SQL Like Riding a Bicycle
There's an old saying that goes, "It's like riding a bicycle." It suggests that once you acquire a skill, you'll likely retain it for life. I haven't come across many things that I could compare to riding a bicycle, but recently, coding has felt remarkably similar. I learned SQL around a year ago but got caught up in various other pursuits and responsibilities, causing SQL and I to drift apart.
When I faced a recent project that required me to design a database, I initially felt intimidated. I doubted whether my knowledge was strong enough, especially considering the lack of practice. However, I've always been someone who tackles challenges head-on, so I decided to take action. Armed with a pen and paper, I began sketching out entities. Surprisingly, as I drafted tables and filled in columns, my previous learning flooded back to me.
Perhaps coding truly is like riding a bicycle. I may have become rusty at some point, but the underlying skills remain ingrained within me.
