Rethinking My Approach: Embracing Delayed Gratification in Documentation Reading
In my undergraduate studies, I came across the notion that a child's ability to delay gratification is linked to future success. I've consistently applied this principle in my academic and professional endeavors, with one notable exception - reading documentation.
Despite understanding the numerous benefits of thoroughly reviewing documentation, I find myself repeatedly deviating from this practice. Instead of delving into project-related documentation upfront, I often convince myself that I'll read it when I encounter challenges. Strangely, when faced with issues, I habitually turn to alternative sources like ChatGPT, Stack Overflow, Google, Reddit, and various online forums, sidestepping the very documentation that could provide a comprehensive solution.
Reflecting on this pattern, I'm considering a shift in my approach. Perhaps it's time to embrace delayed gratification in the realm of documentation reading, opting for the longer route and investing the necessary time to thoroughly understand the material before embarking on new projects.
